For the State of Idaho, the authority issuing apostilles for public and private documents is Ben Ysursa, the Idaho Secretary of State, in Boise.  Notary clerks and deputies are also authorized by SOS to issue apostilles.

Documents submitted for apostille must comply with the following guidelines:

  • Documents need to be issued in Idaho.
  • Notarized documents need to include notary signature, notary stamp and completed acknowledgement statement.
  • Vital records need to be certified copies issued and signed by James B. Aydelotte, State Registrar from the Bureau of Vital Records.
  • Schools records such as diplomas and transcripts need to be signed by the school registrar and notarized before being submitted for apostille.
